Get Help Finding and Preparing Your Business Location

The following steps should be completed prior to securing a business location to ensure regulatory compliance. Feel free to contact the Building Department at (620) 626-2261 or bldgdept@cityofliberal.org with any questions.

1. Consult this Zoning Flowchart (PDF) 
2. Additionally, check floodplain considerations using the FEMA Floodplain Map
3. Utilize the Zoning Map and Building Department to determine permitting requirements (if any)

Once you meet these requirements and apply for a Business License, the City will notify the Fire Marshal to schedule a walkthrough inspection, including a Certificate of Occupancy. Once these requirements are met and the inspection is passed, you can open for business!

Does my business require a license?

Any business operating within City limits must obtain a City business license - even if your primary office is located elsewhere and you only do business occasionally in Liberal.

You may apply online for the basic business license after reviewing these documents and any special licensure requirements.
